SHOPPING HERE AND THERE!

SHOPPING

Shopping was also a great activity that we often did during the trip. Most of the girls and boys loved being there.

Not only did we see French and famous brands but also typical Canadian shops.

We went to 3 malls:

-Eaton centre in Toronto on the first of april

-On the second of april, we spent a « shopping day » in Orillia's neighbourhood .We went to an outlet mall in Cooketown in the morning and then we went to Barry's Bay.

About Toronto' mall:

With around one million visitors per week, it is also the largest shopping mall in Eastern Canada and the third largest in Canada as a whole.

Toronto Eaton Centre is bounded  by Yonge street in the East, Queen street in the South, Dundas street West in the North, and James street as well as Trinity square in the West.  As it's in the heart of the city, everyone has access to it thanks to subways, buses or cars. Of course, before  entering  the mall, you first see the advertising close to one of the mall entries :

When you finaly arrive in the center of the consumer society, you can see the 230 retailers, restaurants (including a Mc Donald) and services in the fantastic glass galeria mall that enables you to spend all your day buying things and carrying new bags. But, you don't even have time to discover everything despite it closes at 9:00 pm during the week .Without going too far, visinting one floor per day seems the best record you can do in this mall. There are 5 floors and architects wanted an urban atmosphere:

When you're tired or when you want to have a snack, you can sit and admire the glass galery.

The day after, we went to Cooketown and to Barry.

We discovered the Kamaniskeg Lake :

We first went to Cooketown because we arrived earlier. There was an outlet mall in which we could find Levi's, Adidas, Puma, and Canadian stores.

Thereafter, the place we went to was next to the town of  Barry, and it is known for all the shops it contains, as well as its mall . You can see reptiles stores, chinese restaurants, a fish store...and the mall. Of course, the latter is smaller than Toronto's but it is twice bigger than a French one.

What surprises me is all the different type of food you can eat:  in the restaurant area ( if you can call it restaurant), you have the choice between spanish food, chinese food, pizzas, and  famous brands for hamburgers. It was all fast food. I was happy to finally succeed in finding a simple salad among the 6 fast foods .

We noticed some events or habits that we didn't have in France. For example, here is a picture of a hairdresser's. You can see the colourful cars and planes kids can sit on when they have their hair cut. It's just a means of relaxing kids and keeping them quiet.

We should not forget the other stores we went after seeing the CN tower or Niagara  Falls made for tourism.
